To take the confusion out of the product
selection, they offer just one single

Toolkit", which we found to contain everything
an ISO 9000 novice needs to set up ISO 9000.
The "All-In-One
Easy ISO 9001 Toolkit" contains not only
easy-to-customize templates for the entire
ISO 9000 documentation but also detailed
guides for all aspects of the ISO
implementation, everything necessary to set
up an internal ISO 9000 audit program, a
PowerPoint presentation, and everything else
needed for ISO 9000. Many of the
components of the toolkit are very unique.
Though we were impressed by all components,
we would like to highlight at least the
"Insider Secrets for a Successful ISO 9001
Certification Audit":
These secrets
alone would be worth the price of the entire
toolkit!
We reviewed all
components of the "All-In-One Easy ISO 9001
Toolkit" against the following criteria:
(1) how good are the documentation
templates, (2) is the toolkit complete, (3)
is it fully ISO 9000 compliant, (4) is it
really easy to use, (5) is it appropriate
for any company, (6) can beginners use it,
and (7) how fast is it to achieve
certification using the toolkit.
The result of
our evaluation: the "All-In-One Easy ISO
9001 Toolkit" is impressive! It easily
exceeded in all of the evaluation criteria
above. All documentation templates are
of high quality and easy to customize; there are
even templates for work instructions!
Based on our simulated ISO 9000
implementation at a small manufacturing
company, we think that even an absolute
beginner can achieve ISO 9000 certification
in only two months.
The "All-In-One
Easy ISO 9001 Toolkit" makes ISO 9000 easy, but
with "easy" there comes a
potential trade-off: the
resulting ISO 9000 system is rather
minimalistic (though fully ISO 9001:2008
compliant). Easy9001.com justifies
this by arguing that the most important goal
is to quickly achieve ISO 9000
certification, and that after successful
certification, the utilization of ISO 9000
automatically leads to process improvements.
Though we are strong believers in utilizing
SO 9001 as a business improvement tool, we
can accept the approach of easy9001.com.
Even if you are
not going to purchase their "All-In-One
Easy ISO 9001 Toolkit", we recommend
reviewing their website and their

quality manual. However, we found their
manual to be a sub-standard quality
manual that appears to have been developed
in an attempt to please
auditors but without adding much value to
the company. We found it to be relatively hard to read, bureaucratic
and not user-friendly. The price is high at US$ 199, but the package
includes a PowerPoint presentation.
However, the
indirect costs to a business may be high if
the resulting ISO 9000 system imposes many
bureaucratic hurdles rather than streamline
business processes.

easy to use. We found this claim to be
largely true.
ISO9000Simplified
managed to really simplify the ISO
9001:2008 requirements and create unique
manuals that are free from unnecessary
requirements and bureaucracy that is so
common in other ISO 9001 documentation;
instead, their manuals truly focus on
the improvement of corporate processes
and efficiency.
Interestingly,
ISO9000Simplified
offers two different manuals: an "ISO
9000 Implementation Manual"
and an "ISO 9000 Streamlining Manual".
Both manuals fully integrate quality
manual, procedures, and policies; both
manuals come with detailed and
easy-to-follow customization
instructions. The main difference
between both manuals is that the
"ISO 9000 Implementation Manual" is
specifically designed for companies
that want to implement ISO 9001:2008 for
the first time (the manual includes many
explanations, clear processes and
detailed instructions that will make the
implementation quite easy; most
importantly, employees will accept ISO
9001:2008 because this manual is
user-friendly and really makes sense).
The "ISO 9000 Streamlining Manual" is a
super-efficient manual that is ideal for
companies that want to make their
existing quality system more efficient.

the required ISO 9001:2008 quality
procedures (which are also available
separately in form of the "ISO 9000
Procedures Collection"). Both
manuals, as well as the procedures
collection, have have two main
characteristics:
(1)
they are concise and include the bare
minimum that ISO 9001 :2008 requires -
which is an advantage for those that
seek quick and easy ISO 9001:2008
certification but are not really
interested in utilizing the ISO 9001
:2008 system as a means to improve their
business;
(2)
their price is very reasonable.
If your
company seeks quick ISO
9001:2008 certification without changing
your company's business processes more

If you conduct your own reviews, we suggest that
you consider the following:
ISO 9001:2000:
Providers
that are still selling ISO 9001:2000 based
materials are not only selling an outdated
product but they are also showing a tendency not
to keep their materials current. The
current version of the ISO 9000 families of
standards is 2008.
Completely obsolete - but hidden:
Even so many years after the major
revision of ISO 9000 in the year 2000, there are
still numerous products that are based on the
completely obsolete ISO 9000:1994 or that are
mainly slightly revised to give the impression
of being up-to-date. We recommend that you
consider the following as
warning signals:
- the templates
include 20 procedures
(the completely
obsolete 1994 version of ISO 9000 required 20
quality
procedures);
-
the first
edition was published prior to the year 2001
(the major 2000 revision was published in
December 2000).
Providers of consulting or training services:
Please beware of "black sheep" that lure buyers
with templates only to sell them expensive
consulting or training services later on.
We are not saying that consultants and trainers
are bad "per se" but they tend to become very
costly. The purpose of templates is
inexpensive in-house ISO 9000 implementation so
you should not later find out that you need the
consulting or training services of the
publisher. We, therefore, consider the
following as warning
signals:
- the publisher
also sells consulting services;
- the publisher
also sells training classes.
Confusing: We recommend
that you review a sample page to see if the
product is user-friendly. Remember, ISO 9000
should add value to your company. A
quality manual that nobody understands will have
no value - and it won't lead to certification
either! Very clear
warning signals are:
- there are many references to
other documents (who wants to jump from one
document to the next to find the
needed information?);
- the text is full of words that
you don't understand (anybody should be able to
understand good ISO 9000 materials).
Bureaucratic:
"Unnecessary bureaucracy" is probably the most
frequent complaint about ISO 9000 systems. There
are many reasons for bureaucratic ISO 9000
systems, ranging from incompetence of the author
to the deliberate attempt of appearing more
valuable when more complex. The result is
always the same: it will make your business less
efficient and less profitable! Watch out
for these warning signals:
- there appear to be a lot of
formalities like definitions, abbreviations,
complicated numbering systems but little
meaningful content (this may be an indicator for
unnecessarily bureaucratic requirements);
- there is a "Master-List of
Documents" (keeping such a huge list current
takes much resources, adds little value,
and is not required by ISO 9000:2008).

Selecting a registrar (the independent entity
that conducts the certification audit and issues
the ISO 9000 certificate) that fits your
individual circumstances is important. The
most important criteria is: is the registrar
accredited by your country's accreditation board
(for example, RAB in the USA). Be aware of
registrars without accreditation - their
services and the issued certificate will have no
value!
You will easily find numerous local ISO 9000
registrars in your city (or a nearby large city)
- just conduct an internet search.
You may also want to consider one of the large
